It's Cambio Week...

Hola mamá! How are you? The power went out like 5 times while I’m trying to write you and on the 5th time it went out for 45 mins, but I’m doing good now. So guess what? I’m getting transferred to an area called Jasso in the Zone Tula. It’s north of here. My new compañion is Elder Herrera and he is from the northern part of Mexico. We both came to the field at the same time but I don’t really know much about him. I know things will be really good with him though. They are taking both missionaries that were in that area out and my new comp and I are going to ´open´ this area without knowing anything. It will be interesting but not impossible. Elder Zapata is staying here and getting a new companion.

So for the rest of the week, on Monday after we wrote, we had planned a lesson with Beatriz but weren’t able to get another male to accompany us so we had to cancel and reschedule. Tuesday we had our district meeting and I got asked to be in charge of the devotional that we have before the actual meeting. Both the devotional and the district meeting were really good. After the meeting we had intercambios and this time Elder Rivera and I were together. While we were out we found a really awesome family who invited us in to their house and gave us food. The husband (grandpa) is the only member of the church. They told us that they used to feed the missionaries in the other area they lived in and they loved to have them visit so it’s really awesome we found them so the missionaries in this area can start visiting them again.

Wednesday morning we had interviews with Elder Grimaldi and he gave me some really good advice for some of the things that I want to improve. I’m very grateful for his help. I’m trying to improve and do a lot of things and it was good to know he is really trying to help me. Thursday we went and visited Jazmin in her little tienda and talked with her about our purpose as missionaries like how we are here to help her come closer to Christ and not to force her to do anything. She told us she would like us to keep coming back to visit her.

Friday we got a surprise visit from our zone leaders Elder Talbot and Elder Madden. They came to study with us for a bit and also to check and see how things were in our casa. Then we went to the mission office so I could sign some papers to renew my visa. Sometime next month I will go to the immigration office/building to actually renew it. It took some time but I finally got it done. After we got back to our area and were eating lunch with the Hernandez Velazquez family, I got a call from one of the secretaries asking me if we could go back to the offices because I signed some papers incorrectly. It takes us four hours to get there and back so we went first thing Saturday. We also planned to go visit Victor Saturday when we got back to see how he is doing but unfortunately we weren’t able to.

Sunday was my 11-month mark in the mission!! After church we went to see Victor to see how he is doing and to eat with him as well. The food he cooked was amazing. He wasn’t at church because he was having some problems. My companion and I felt horrible because we didn’t visit him at all this week. He is such an awesome guy though.

I gotta go now. I love you so much Mama!!!! Tell grandma I love her please! I hope you have a great week! Trust in God and remember to doubt your doubts before you doubt your faith, or Heavenly Father, or the Gospel, or the Book of Mormon, etc.!

My destroyed package sent via USPS

Fortunately only one thing got destroyed. The poptarts and
pringles were pretty smashed but still edible.
