¡Hola mamá! ¿Cómo estás tu? P.S. I love the shirt CJ is wearing in the pictures you sent! That’s so awesome that Shawn is home now! I’m not surprised you were going crazy before he got off the plane. That’s awesome you got to go to the temple with him! How fun!
This past week was pretty good. On Tuesday we had a district meeting where we talked about the importance of members of the church and how we need to work with them to make the ward stronger, and also to find out if they have friends, family members, neighbors, etc. that we can teach. Sometimes we struggle with the members here, but it’s a process that takes work, patience, willingness and love from both sides.
Wednesday was a lot of walking. It took us an hour and a half to walk to the area where we had an appointment, and we weren’t even sure we had the correct street, but when we tried to call the lady we had the appointment with she didn’t answer. So we tried to contact other references we had in that area but no one answered our calls or anything. After thinking about why we couldn’t reach anyone, I decided that I felt God was trying to teach us to be more humble and patient. It isn’t easy and takes a lot of work but I know God will help us know how to do that.
Thursday we didn’t leave our casa because my companion had really bad back pain that makes it hard for him to walk. So we studied and talked: about our church, how it’s different than other churches because it was established by Jesus Christ when he was on the earth then restored by Joseph Smith. We also talked a lot about the ward and how the references we get from them are much more reliable than those we get from knocking on doors – we just need their help more with that.
Friday we had intercambios with Elder Call and Elder Madden. It was different though because we both went to their area to help them a bit. They are both new to their area and although they have a big map of the area, they still get lost trying to find previous investigators of the hermanas who were in the area before. We ended up contacting for about 4 ½ to 5 hours and found together 13 people for them to start teaching. The weather was crazy during the day too going from sunny to cloudy to sunny to pouring rain, back to sunny and then cloudy, windy and cold. I got fried on my arms, face, and neck somehow. Besides that though it was a really good and successful day. Each companionship found some really good contacts for them to go back and teach.
Sunday there was a camera crew from the church at our ward to film for the "Come Follow Me" program! There is a chance I will be in some of the videos they took! They are going to come back next week to film too. We were also blessed to have some new investigators come to church. New people to teach. HOW AWESOME! And with the member family we went to eat with after church, we found out that not all of the people in their family are members. So we talked with them and they want to learn more about the church and have us come back to teach them! Then something happened that just made me laugh. One of the daughters told me that I have golden hair! :)
This coming week we hope to have 3 baptisms on Saturday! We have many things we need to do to come out baptisms but I know we can do it if we trust in the Lord!
I love you so much mama! Have a great week!
