Asking Investigators to Taking a Step of Faith!

Hola Mamá! Muy bien gracias! Y tu, como estas? It was super awesome to be able to call you guys last week! After we were done with calling we went and visited Jorge and Daniel to see how they are doing and to remind Jorge to be strong and resist drinking so he can be baptized on Saturday. He seems to be doing good so far!

Tuesday we had interviews with Presidente and Hermana Urrea and teaching evaluations. I was also able to weigh myself when I talked with Hermana Urrea and I can’t believe how much weight I’ve lost! 30 pounds since I first got to the field!!! Holy Fetch!! After interviews, which went well, we had a lesson with Miguel Angel where we took some time to answer questions he had and taught him the 10 commandments. He told us he has been studying or researching about the Word of Wisdom and found some cons for the 5 substances, and he is starting to accept and apply the Word of Wisdom into his life.

Wednesday in district meeting we talked about working with ward council members to get their help with investigators so they can progress more toward baptism. We’re going to have the leaders come visit people to get to know them and we’re also going to call a leader every day to offer to help them so we can try to build up a trust relationship with them. Later we had a lesson with a woman named Cristina Ruiz who is super nice lady. This was the first lesson we had with her and it went really great. She didn’t accept our invitation to be baptized but we will keep teaching her and pray a lot for her!

Thursday we had a lesson with Jorge and Daniel and beforehand we decided to be very, very direct with them, especially Jorge, about the Word of Wisdom, so that’s exactly what we did. We shared scriptures and did our best to explain to him why he needs to not drink and to explain the benefits that will come as well. After that we talked about faith by sharing scriptures and experiences and asking them to share their own experiences with us. We then asked them to both take a step of faith to be baptized this Saturday. We told them they may not know and understand everything but that is why we are here and those things will come even more so after they get baptized and receive the Gift of the Holy Ghost. It was a very powerful lesson and Jorge agreed to not drink and do everything possible to stay sober and then they both accepted our invitation to be baptized March 23!

Friday we had intercambios and I went with Elder Mencia. It was an awesome day because we went to eat lunch at a street taco place that has some of the best tacos I have eaten! Also because I was able to improve with contacting people in the street. Elder Mencia is very smart and direct so I was able to learn some things I can do to improve.

Saturday we started out by looking for references that had been sent in Referral Manager on the Internet but we didn’t have much success because the addresses were not good. But we were still able to contact and that went really well. Later we had a lesson with Antonio Juarez, his wife Magdalena and his daughter Ameyalli. We had a really great lesson and at the end my companion invited them to be baptized. It took a bit of work explaining but we finally got them to accept a baptismal date for 25th of May!

Sunday was fantastic because Jorge, Daniel and Miguel Angel came to church and there were many members greeting them and helping them feel welcome. I love this ward because the members are very united and also very willing to help us and support us in so many different ways! Not only us but the investigators that we bring to church and visit them with us during the week. After church we went to see Jorge and Daniel. We are going to have an FHE in the house of the Familia Angel Gutierrez Monday, we also went to see Nicolasa to find out if she is closer to getting ready to get married and then with Abraham and Concepcion to teach them about the Plan of Salvation. It was a really good day!

I have to go but I will call you later ok! I love you!
